Hi Dorothy, I do not have much information only that Margaret Melville was born approx 1842 Shilbottlle, her father was Christopher Melville. Margaret Melville married William Shiel (1870, Berwick Register Office), they live in the Wooler area and ended up round the Norham area. Margaret died long before William Shiel. My Grandmother remembered William but not Margaret. The community of Kersley 12 miles south of Quesnel, British Columbia and 412 miles north of Vancouver is having a reunion of all former residents on the first weekend of Aug 2003. This started as a 50 year school reunion and has expanded. The community was named after a Charles KERSLEY who pre-empted land 19 August 1867 and sold it on 10 November 1876. Very little is known about this gentleman. Where he came from is unknown as is nationality and his age as well as his marital status. It is thought he went to the USA after the sale but that is speculation. Their is no 1871 census for BC and he does not appear in the 1880/81 census of Canada or USA . Their are 4 Charles KERSLEY's in the 1881UK census that could possibly be him but without a birthyear it is hard to say if any of them are the same person. 3 were born in Hampshire, which seems to be the county with the largest number of this surname and one in Middlesex. A group of residents are working on a history of the Kersley from its beginning and are looking for any information on KERSLEY. Kathie Quesnel Genealogy Soc

Hi! I joined but haven't been receiving any postings. Help. Lilian
The surname I research is JOY, the ones that I know were in Wimborne St Giles, Dorset at All Hallows Farm in mid to late 1700s. They were Thomas , m. Sybil unknown, known children: Stephen, Frederick, m. Charlotte Gre(a)y and Ann, m. James Viney. Frederick and Charlotte had children: Mary Sybil, Thomas, m. Eliza Gould, John Wardner, emigrated to US, Frederick (2), Jasper, m. Rosanna unknown, and James Gre(a)y. John Wardner was my GG Grandfather, and I would like to fill the rest of the family out. Does this ring a bell with anyone? More than happy to share what I have. Pat, in Oregon, USA
