To the List Members, Perhaps someone could advise if the Stoke-on-Trent 1851 Census has been formatted onto CD Disks or is available for viewing on the net.? I am searching for a William Osborne b 1844 in Somerset and his Father Henry who moved to the Potteries around the 1850 period. Any info would be gratefully received. Regards John
John: You might try the Staffordshire Lookup Exchange http://freespace.virgin.net/willen.hall/sts.html. There is a very kind person there who has the surname index for the 1851 Staffordshire Census. I have contacted him a couple of times and he is very quick in responding with a list of the folio numbers on which a certain surname exists. This would make Gord Beavington's CDs a lot easier to manage. Also, if you have Windows XP, the Beavington CD's are really easy, due to the "slide viewer" function. All you have to do with Windows XP is click the "next picture" button to get the next folio. They are very high quality scans and most are quite easy to read as a full page view. Happy Hunting!
