Hello Jeanne In the 1841 census, HO107 piece 991 part 11 Enumeration District 7, Penkhull, Garden Street, there is a Joseph Leese, age 12, Brickmaker, born in Staffordshire. He is living (probably) with his (perhaps) widowed mother Susannah age 30 to 34, sister Mary Ann age 8, and Charles age 4, all born in Staffordshire. There is no adult male with the family. The occupation of mother Susannah is "F.S.", that is "female servant." I say "probably" and "perhaps" because the 1841 census does not give relationships or marital status, but these can often be surmised from the entries. Also, the age for those over 15 is given only to the nearest 5 years below the actual age. The age for those under 15 is supposed to be given exactly in years. Can you tell if this is your family? ........ Jack Leigh At 02:00 PM 08/27/2003 -0600, you wrote: >Hi Keith & Jane >My Mother-in-law was a Leese. Her father was Charles Joseph Leese.
