Hello, Thank you to all who have replied about Doultons. I will get in touch with the various people suggested. It is a "little" person, albeit a successful businessman, that prompted my request. As listers have probably seen, a couple of days ago I fielded a plea for help with my 2nd great grandfather, Henry LEIGHS b1809 Endon Staffs. Staffordshire Records cannot find his baptism in Endon or Leek. He was a "China man" and dealer in china and glass with a workshop of some sort employing several people in Guildford. As was his father, John, before him according to Henry's marriage cert. Sometime before 1838 Henry moved from Stafford to Lambeth, and the only connection I could think of between the two places and chinaware is Doultons- albeit that they went the other way round, from Lambeth to Burslem (which is not too far away from Endon). In the 1881 census Henry's son has taken over the business in Guildford and also calls himself a "Certified Drawing Master" whatever that was. I also have noticed that nearly all the LEIGHS' on FreeBMD are recorded Stoke on Trent, the spelling of the name being consistent. Any port in a storm, and if anyone else can think of anywhere else I might look to find Henry prior to 1838 and why he moved I would be grateful. Thanks again everyone.
