I wonder if anyone could help with a small query. My mother's grandmother was born on 5/12/1880 (Maud Barker) at Prospect Place, Longton. Her mother's details were Mary Ann Barker (no father details given). Does anyone know if this was a residential street or is it possible (given the fact this birth probably took place out of wedlock) that she was sent somewhere - hostel, workhouse? for the birth. Cheers Mick Pearson
Prospect Place - Go to www.streetmap.co.uk and input Chaplin Road as a UK Street and hit send. Look at the top left hand square of the map and on the join you will see, Lockett Ln. Prospect place would have been where SPEA St is shown . I was wronmg when I said a picture was in J Briggs Book - I've checked. Though I have seen one in one of the local books . Anyway it was a lower end of the house market - Steve
