A wall has started to tumble down this morning with the arrival of a birth certificate of a Harriet CHADWICK born in Shelton in 1864. It is her brother Benjamin CHADWICK bc 1848 in Staffordshire with a father called Abraham CHADWICK who is my direct descendent but I haven't been able to find his birth in 10 yrs of searching. The certifcate states her father as Abraham CHADWICK and her mother as Harriet CHADWICK formerly FRADLEY lately ASHLEY. Checking FreeBMD and the IGI I have found a Harriet FRADLEY married a James ASHLEY in Stone in 1843, a Benjamin ASHLEY is registered in the Mar quarter of 1848 I'm wondering if this Benjamin ASHLEY became Benjamin CHADWICK when his mother married Abraham CHADWICK.
