Hi Michelle, Thanks for your reply. I have managed to find some more details. Arthur TUNNICLIFF b 25 April 1857 married Harriet SPALTON b.1858 in St.John's Church, Derby 15 June 1881. They had 5 children, Reginald b abt 1882, Arthur b abt. 1884, Ernest b. abt 1886, Sissy 16 June 1888 and Constance May 13 May 1894. They eventually owned two shops 24-26 Heathcote road, Longton (grocers?) and had a servant and horse and carriage. Would like to try and find more about the shop, (is it still there, photos, adverts, deeds etc) Arthur TUNNICLIFF's father was Michael TUNNICLIFF b. abt 1814 married Ann POPE b abt 1826 in Bucknall Stafford 30 June 1846. They had 3 children, William b abt 1853, Mary Jane, b abt 1855 and Arthur. I don't know why there is an 'e' on the end of my father's name, his mum Sissy didn't have an 'e' on hers. Michael TUNNICLIFF's father was also called Michael TUNNICLIFF and that is where the trail ends and where I am stuck at the moment. Again if anyone has any info, I would be most grateful and thanks again Michelle for keeping in touch. Hi John, I live half a mile away from Longton. Part of Heathcote road is now no more, only a few shops and a pottery factory. A new Tesco has just been completed, and the roads surrounding it has changed. My relatives lodged at 21 Heathcote Rd in 1871(census info), but this appears to be earlier than you want. Try a brilliant local website for local info and local maps. www.netcentral.co.uk/steveb/ and www.thepotteries.org/index.htm Good luck! Jean If you need to contact me, please do so direct as I am unsubscribing whilst on my hols! ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Tunnicliffe" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 9:40 AM Subject: [Pots] TUNNICLIFFE UPDATE > > Arthur TUNNICLIFF b 25 April 1857 married Harriet SPALTON b.1858 in > St.John's Church, Derby 15 June 1881.
