Just wondering if anyone can look up a marraige and death for the following: Frederick Davenport and Mary Ellen Hancock in area of Hanley/Goldenhill , marraige approx between 1881 - 1901. Both died around 1904 - 1910 in Hanley area. Frederick was a potter. Both were born around 1860. Trying to track their grave/ death records etc. Any he;p on this on would be great. Also, their only son Frank born 13/6/1904 was put in an orphanage, workhouse after their deaths, does anyone know which one in the area this would have been? cheers sue
Hi Sue, I was bought up in the next village to Goldenhill,my parents are still there.Goldenhill is about 3 or 4 miles from Hanley and was in the registration district of Wolstanton. There was an orphanage at Penkhull, near to Newcastle-under-Lyme and I think that there was one in Newchapel. The main church was St.John the Evangelist C of E.I know there were a few other churches, there's a website with churches of Goldenhill so I'll send you the link If you don't get any better offers let me know and I'll ask Dad.I'm going to Stoke on Friday so if you can let me know before then and I'll get some answers by the end of next week. All the Best, Helen. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 3:52 AM Subject: [Pots] Davenport look up > Just wondering if anyone can look up a marraige and death for the following: > > Frederick Davenport and Mary Ellen Hancock in area of Hanley/Goldenhill , marraige approx between 1881 - 1901.
