    1. Location of The Soap Works?

    3. Hello I am new to the list so bear with me. In a 1937 cutting from The Sentinel, James BENTLEY b.1840 (yes, he really was 97) described his birthplace as being in Hartshill, near "the soapworks". I have searched the 1841 census and maps of the time but cannot find such a facility. James's 1841 entry puts him roughly half way up Hartshill Road. His birth cert shows him as being born in Hartshill, and his mother is described as "an inmate". I would be grateful for any ideas as to what and where this soapworks might have been. Thanks.
