    1. William Hackney: Lookup required please.

    3. Hi Listers, I am hoping that someone could kindly do a lookup for me in the 1861 census, and possibly 1851. My gg grandfateher was William Hackney, and he is my brick wall. His wife and family appear in the 1861, and 1871 censuses, but William is only at home in 1871 at 26 Oxford Street, Hanley, just after their 5th child was born. In 1861 his wife and first two children were at Audley Street, Tunstall. He could well be lodging somewhere in 1861, and maybe with parents or lodging in 1851. He and Mary Ann Webb were married in the Chapel of St Paul, Burslem, on 6 December 1852, he full age, she 19. Their place of residence shown as Long Port. William's father was William, labourer, deceased. William jnr was a blacksmith, and was throughout his life. In the 1871 census blacksmith William claims to be 38, born in Astbury. He died on 5th December 1878, at Union Street, Burslem, away from home, and was buried on 6th at St John's Church, Burslem. Thank you for reading this, it has been posted on Pots, STS, and CHS lists, as all might apply. Thank you also for any help. Keith
