Hello, Astbury is in Cheshire! There does not seem to be a Longport as a place, it could of course have been an old district! Hello, don't give up! I have Astburys in Longton, it's either a district of, or close to Stoke On Trent, I think. Longport is close to Middleport and Newport; they are sub districts of Burslem, the mother-town of the potteries. St Paul's church used to stand at the top of Newport St. Burslem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "john richardson" <jjminfiek@ntlworld.com> To: <ENG-STS-THE-POTTERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 22, 2005 8:16 AM Subject: Re: [Pots] William Hackney: Lookup required please. > Hello, > > Astbury is in Cheshire! Hello John, Astbury is indeed in Cheshire, but Longport is in Staffs, as others have posted. Many thanks for reading my posting and your assistance. Keith
Hi William, Many thanks for taking the time to look, but they were in 26 Oxford Street, Shelton, Hanley for the 1871 census, unfortunately I don't have the reference! Again, many thanks Keith
