William my Hancocks are as follows Thomas Hancock born 1839 Mow Cop married Mary ann Gibson. They had the following children Sarah jane b. 1867 Wolstanton married George Roland Windsor and had Leonard, Elsie and Eric.Leonard married Hilda Bowers and had a son Geoffery, Elsie married Leonard Reeves and had Rosemary and Margaret, and Eric married Kathleen. Mary Ellen b 1873 Goldenhill married Frederick Davenport at Hanley. They had one child Frank Davenport my grandfather. Frederick was previously maried to Annie Colclough and had a daughter Emmie Martha Ann b. 1871 possible marraige to Jabez Taylor Annie Hannah b. 1876 possible marraige to Mathew Plant at Tunstall Esther Hannah b. 1879 possible marraige to Frederick Moston at Tunstall Also another child Elizabeth married unknown Griffin around Hanley. My knowledge of Thomas Hancock and Mary Gibson is vague however I have looked at census info and feel his parents were Randle Hancock and Mary Ann Stockton they married 1825 at Audley. They had Sarah and Elizabeth (twins) 1836 Peter 1825 James 1834 Thomas 1830 Mary Ann 1842 and our Thomas 1839 however this is not certain. Hope this helps you never know it could be a side line of the same family cheers sue ----- Original Message ----- From: "williamjonesjonqms" <williamjonesjonqms@supanet.com> To: <ENG-STS-THE-POTTERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 8:48 PM Subject: Re: [Pots] New Subscriber Interests. > Many thanks for your response Sue.The earliest Hancock I have in my Tree, was > born in Hanley in c 1855.in the 1871 Census it states Ralph as being the son > of a Levi Hancock who it states was born in Hanley in c 1836.Ralph married > an Edna Cartlidge at Northwood in 1874,Edna being the sister of my > Great-Grandmother Sarah Cartlidge, who was born in 1852.Ralph and Edna had > the following children, all born in Hanley; > Levi, born 1875 > Harriet, born 1877 > Ralph, born 1991 > Ellen, born 1882. > William, born 1885 > Adam, born 1888 > I do trust I haven't bored you with all this! > > Regards > William Russell Jones > Cefn Mawr > Wrexham. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Sue" <styler1@hotkey.net.au> > To: <ENG-STS-THE-POTTERIES-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 2:16 AM > Subject: Re: [Pots] New Subscriber Interests. > > > > William > > my side has Hancocks at Hanley at this time.
