Dear Esther, thank you for your help. I have the marriage certificate and all the census references but the problem is that there are so many Williams with Marys as the mother that I cannot tie the correct ones to my William. The most probable one is that William's father and mother are William and Mary Caton but I don't have any clues from any other source to say which it is. I only know that it is not William Parr and Mary Rutter which is the false line I followed. Having followed a wrong line for two years you can understand why I want proof that I have the correct one.
