    3. Hi, I'm new on the list and declaring my interest in the following: William MOUNTFORT or MOUNTFORD born abt 1786 and his wife Ann(e) BROOK(E)S born about 1788. William is said to have been the 3rd son of Thomas MOUNTFORT of Leek. He was a baker in Hanley in the period 1810-20. In 1820 he joined a party from Burslem who emigrated to the Cape Province of South Africa. He died there in 1869. Ann(e) BROOK(E)S was said to be the daughter of 'Mr BROOKES of the Weeping Cross, Stafford'. She died in South Africa in 1863. William and Anne had a number of children in Hanley before emigrating: Thomas (born 1811), Mary Brooks (born 1812), William (born abt. 1817) went with their parents to the Cape. John (b. 1814), Ralph (b. 1815) and Richard (b. 1819) didn't. I'd love to hear from anyone with information on or connections to these folk. Many thanks, Greg Lewin Stafford, UK
