    3. Dear Hugh, Thank you so much for all this Jaquiss information. Terrific of you to think of me and do all this research for us. The Methodist Chapel is a great bonus. Many of my family must have been religious fundamentalists of their day. Thomas & Mary are certainly worth a look since that was Benjamin's parents' names but these look to be much to young to be them. I appreciate every bit of Jaquiss information I receive especially when it has sourcing documentation included. I shall keep it, use what I can now and have the rest if the need arises in may own research. In addition, I shall post to the lists for others to share. Thanks, again. 3. Dear Liz, Thank you for explaining where everything is. My 3 x great grandparents, Benjamin 1776-1855 & Hannah 1776-1849 Jaquiss nee Cooper lived in Longton, Staffordshire. Benjamin's obituary in the Primitive Methodist Magazine says that he moved from Coton-in-the-Elms, Derbyshire when he was around sixteen and that he died in the Tunstall Circuit. They were married in NewCastle-under-Lyme Parish Church 14 Feb 1801. The only other mention of Cooper's I have is their daughter, Elizabeth Lymer nee Jaquiss mentions James Cooper came to the boat (the Carroll of Carrollton) they chose to cross the Atlantic on in her diary. Perhaps this James Cooper was related to her mother, Hannah? I know nothing else at all about Hannah's Cooper family. Would like to find them, though. If SKS has any information about Jaquiss' in the midlands or how to track this Hannah's Cooper's, tips on researching or maps and orienting I should welcome your contacting me. It would be wonderful to have a old map or find an on-line old map to see where all these places were/are. If SKS knows of maps I can view that would be wonderful. Liz, I appreciate that you took the time to give me a better understanding of where these places were/are. I just don't have a good grasp of how close all these places were/are. It's a shame about the gravestone as laying flat will weather them even faster. Hopefully there is a good record still available of who is buried where? Thanks, again. ----- Original Message ----- From: Liz Parkinson <parkinsonliz@hotmail.com> To: <djaquiss@pressroom.com>; <ENG-LOST-CONNECTIONS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 11, 2002 7:18 AM Subject: Re: [UK Genealogy] Re: [STS] George LIMER - Uttoxeter > Australia stirred intothe stew Uttoxetor is not too far from the potteries - it is about 2 miles from the border with Derbyshire tho so if you are looking for people remember always to look over the border - I found several of my Uttoxetor DUROSE ancestors that way - it is a nice place and has a good heritage area around the old part of the town. The gravestones in the church have mostly been laid flat in recent years and many are too damaged to read. Liz P Subject: [UK Genealogy] Re: [STS] George LIMER - Uttoxeter > Australia stirred into the stew Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 17:23:02 -0400 Dear Marie, Thank you for writing and I shall pass this along to Carol descended from William Lymer 1818 Longton, Staffordshire, England who is researching Lymer's from Longton, Staffordshire, England from the early 1820s to 1852 or so when they left for the states. John Lymer 1820 Longton, Staffordshire, England - 1860 College Springs, Page County, Iowa, USA, who married "our" Elizabeth Jaquiss 1818 Longton, Staffordshire, England and they left from Liverpool/Merseyside, Lancashire, England and went to Millbrook, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, USA right after their marriage in 1843. Elizabeth died 1893 in College Springs, Page County, Iowa, USA. William & John Lymer were brothers. Their parents were Richard & Elizabeth Lymer. William married Beatrice as yet unknown and they had two children Sarah Jane 1847 and James 1852 shortly before they left England for the states. I don't at the moment know or have a map of Staffordshire to look at to see where Uttoxeter is or if it is near the Potteries area of Staffordshire? But I do know that I have never heard of it in regard to either family before. Your Limer family may or may not be related to these Lymer's of ours but the given/first names they have in common i.e.; are not the same individuals just names in common as the dates show. We shall all have to keep researching before we know how far back we have to go to find the connection and come forward again to find the relationship the living have to each other. This is the challenge and fun of genealogy. Please do stay in touch with us and thanks again for writing. If you'd care to share your home address and telephone number with me I should love to be able to stay in contact and continue to exchange information. At least that is the spelling I have for the family. They came from UTTOXETER in Staffs. My ancestor GEORGE LIMER b 1826 Uttoxeter, parents names JAMES LIMER and ELLEN KENT? George married in 1851 in St Botolphs church Aldgate London, it appears, shortly before migrating to Australia. George and his wife MARY ANN nee COWLISHAW, also from Uttoxeter went on to have a large family in Australia. On their marriage certificate it states that George's father was deceased. I have been unable to find a death for James Limer. Strange that you mention the Lymer square, as I heard that also, and another snippet of info was a connection with a castle in Staffordshire! I have also heard of the money in chancery, and the notices in Australian papers to find relatives. The story says that the Aust relatives were too poor to go to England, and many years later a relative did go to England and made some inquiries and found that the money had been granted to some maiden aunts! Fanciful! Well it may have a grain of truth, or it may not even have been the same Limer/Lymer family. Love to hear from you. James Limer would have been my GGG Grandfather. Kind regards Marie Munday .

    3. Hello Janet, Not really a reply to your questions but........... Just curious so thought I'd have a quick look on the Vital Records Index - and I do mean a quick look, I haven't really studied this thoroughly. However I did note the amount of Potts names in the general area of Lane End - in particular both Francis and Frances in the area and at the time you are interested in. Could there be a relationship between these and your Francis family?
