Steve From the Antipodes - a friend was able to lodge a vote on my behalf, by quoting my New Zealand Phone Number - worth trying for those of you, if like me, would have a rather large increase in the Telephone Account, if we did it ourselves. I would have phoned from NZ if they would not have accepted a proxy vote!! But not all of us can afford the extra. Using the +44 does not help, in NZ as soon as we dial 001 to access UK, charges start. :-( Keeping my fingers crossed - and with the occasional prayer!!! Well you know I never take money and never normally ask for anything, but I am asking for something now . It's simple, and hopefully very rewarding to us both. If I have helped , would you pick up the phone and register a vote - its only 30p and would mean the world to me, and it may help save a piece of our history. Even if we don't come first, 17p out of the 30p goes to the restoration fund . Full details are at www.bbc.co.uk/history/programmes/restoration/ Some of you are outside the UK and the cost may be prohibitive, I don't know, but if you could try +44 901 077 5006 Some of you in the UK may be lucky enough to have a candidate in your own area - that must be wonderful --- but if you make two calls - one each its only 60p. Less than 10% of a birth certificate Anyway if you can help, please do. But if you cannot I will still give my help whenever I can. That ends the sermon for this morning - I'm going up the Vale now to sweet talk some other friends into lifting the phone Steve If I have broken any rules of the list - please excuse --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Great idea Steve - I for one owe you loads of favours so I'll be putting a few extra votes in for Bethesda (I'd already done a couple) My conscience is telling me if I can afford to vote on Pop idol there's no excuse for not supporting a worthy cause like this And I'm all in favour of anything that puts Stoke on Trent on the map as an interesting place because we do get some terribly bad press cheers Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Stutcinskas" <steve@stutcinskas.freeserve.co.uk> To: <ENG-STS-THE-POTTERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2003 12:02 PM Subject: [Pots] Bethesda Chapel, Shelton > 0901 077 5006 Before 10pm Sunday (UK Time) > > Hello to the friends I have helped - - Over the last few years, some of > you have asked how you could repay the help I occasionally give . > Well you know I never take money and never normally ask for anything, but I > am asking for something now . > It's simple, and hopefully very rewarding to us both. > > If I have helped , would you pick up the phone and register a vote - its > only 30p and would mean the world to me, and it may help save a piece of > our history. > Even if we don't come first, 17p out of the 30p goes to the restoration > fund . > > Full details are at www.bbc.co.uk/history/programmes/restoration/ > > Some of you are outside the UK and the cost may be prohibitive, I don't > know, but if you could try +44 901 077 5006 > Some of you in the UK may be lucky enough to have a candidate in your own > area - that must be wonderful --- but if you make two calls - one each > its only 60p. > Less than 10% of a birth certificate > > Anyway if you can help, please do. My ancestor, George HOOD was in business in Tunstall as an earthenware manufacturer from about 1822. He built Highgate Pottery, Brownhills, in 1831 and took over Walton's figure and toy factory in Navigation Road, Burslem, in 1835. First married an Emma ____probably abt. 1819/1820, m. 2nd Susannah WALTON, 3rd Ann (possibly BEECH) I am trying to find the marriage record for George and Emma. Their daughter Sarah was b. abt 1821/1822 in Tunstall. This is George on 1841 census Liverpool Road George HOOD 45 Ann HOOD 25- 3rd wife Sarah HOOD 19 - my ancestor Ann HOOD 16 George HOOD 14 -son of George and Emma bapt. St. John's Burslem Ralph HOOD 6 Emma HOOD 1 I think that George and Emma may have married at St. John's but those records dont seem to be available through the BMD site.
