    3. Would anyone know what was meant by the description "marble maker" when listed as the products against a potter in the 1850s and 1860s trade directories of the Potteries please? It didn't mean just "marbles" as in toys did it? Thanks in anticipation, Veronica

    3. Hi Dorothy This is my wife's side of the family. I believe that she is also descended from Andrew and Elizabeth m 1800s via their son William born c1813 The only census I have looked at so far is the 1851. William gives his birthplace as Burslem. I only know the wife's name from the 1851 census as Betty which I take as Elizabeth. Their children athat I know of are- Eliza 1834 Esau 1836 Emily 1839 Jane 1843 Prudence 1847 Hannah Rebekah b1849 married James Arthur Jeremiah 1869 ( my wife Jill's GG Grandparents) All were born in Burslem We believe Hannah remarried as a widow in 1901 to John Jones What type of boat builder was Andrew was it canel barges. My next place of call is Hannah's birth cert in 1849 and a look at the 1861 census fot the family. thanks for the infomation and I will see if I can tie it all in.
