    2. Hi Jennifer I have found a Joshua Cooper in the 1891 census can send you a copy if you like regards Joan From: "Jennifer Cooper" <jennifer@buckspoint.f2s.com> Date: 2005/07/06 Wed AM 10:32:54 GMT To: ENG-STS-THE-POTTERIES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Pots] COOPER Hi listers, I am in the process of trying to track down my husband's great grandfather Samuel COOPER who, according to the census 1881, 1891 and 1901, was born in1860 in Macclesfield. My research has brought me to Staffordshire, having discovered from the 1861 census at 1837online that one of the three Samuel COOPERs born in 1860 in Macclesfield was living in Tunstall. According to the birth certificate he was born 18th February, 1860, son of Joshua COOPER (labourer) and Isabella HENSHALL. Samuel's marriage certificate to Maragaret BLANSHARD on Sept. 7th 1885 in the parish of Fallowfield states his father as being Cannon COOPER deceased. I cannot find a 'Cannon' anywhere so surmise that this could have been a nickname of some sort. My question is does anyone connect with this family?....according to the 1881 census the other children were: William, Ellen, John, Sarah Jane, Joshua, Emily and Thomas, all born in Tunstall. If anyone has access to the 1891 census could they check if Joshua is still living then. Any assistance would be much appreciated. 3. List – Is there anyone who will be going to either the Stoke on Trent City Archives in Hanley or the Staffordshire Record Office in Stafford that would be willing to check for a christening record? I would like to determine if Urinah Webb was christened at Newchapel Wesleyan Methodist Church (The reference for these records is D5481/2/5/1). Urinah was born in the Sept qtr of 1860 so I would expect that the christening would have taken place in the second half of 1860. Thanks, Tom Wood Pittsburgh, PA USA

    3. Friends I am attempting to find out more about Caleb Cole b c 1757-60 in Newchapel. He married Hannah WOOLF in Audley 1791 , she died in 1792, and I think Caleb possibly married Clara BALLS in London in 1800.. Caleb is listed in the 1793 Directory as a China Maker of Newfield, also in Albut's Index- Caleb Cole & Co. 1801 Newfield - I am attempting to find out more information about the firm, if possible, have checked Directories 1818 and 1822 but he is not listed. Any further information would be much appreciated. tia Helen New Zealand

    3. Hi Barbara, I looked at the "where born" for George Lucas, but I can't decipher it either. Perhaps you may have some luck with another lister. It could begin with M or N. I thought perhaps Meir.. something, ...but Meir Heath doesn't fit, or Meir lane, or Meir Hay. The last column could read BLIND. By the way, I have Lucas's in my tree, but not George and family. My Lucas's were potters and lived in and around Longton, but originated from Burslem and Derby. There are also Lucas's from Newcastle under Lyme which aren't connected to mine either. Have you thought that George may come from that branch? You may like to try that line.
