Hi Sally I have a few Tunstall-Wedgwood marriages, but not this one. I am not connected to the tree, but I study family trees of major potters. I collect trees from the Internet, do my own work, or whatever, on these people. I have: John Tunstall married Sarah Wedgwood (father Moses Wedgwood); daughter Sarah Tunstall married Abner Wedgwood (parents Thomas Wedgwood & Mary Stringer) 4.7.1744 Burslem. Margaret Tunstall born 1678 married Aaron Wedgwood born 1671 (parents Thomas Wedgwood & Margaret) William Tunstall married Sarah Wedgwood 23.6.1667 Burslem ( I don't have their ancestry). The Tunstalls also married into the Burslem family, and the Burslem family married into the Wedgwoods. It is worth noting that the Wedgwoods had a very strong tendency to marry cousins. I thought that name rang a bell! I have built up a databse of WAKEFIELD christenings, marriages and burials in N Staffs between 1700-1810 and see that Moses TUNSTALL was a witness at the wedding of -"Thos MELLOR, collier of this parish (Norton) and Ellen WAKEFIELD widow of the parish of Astbury" This wedding took place on 24th August, 1754 and the other witness was William PRINCE. Don't know if this is your Moses. There seem to be quite a few TUNSTALLs round there - don't know how many Moses there were though. Mind you in an area of Primitive Methodists perhaps there were quite a few!!! Hope this is of some interest. Penny Wakefield in Leicestershire
Hi I am looking for any information on the ancestors of Moses Tunstall born ab 1700 at Burslem to John Tunstall and I believe Mary Wedgewood Moses married Sarah Jackson in 1730 and had 2 daughters in Burslem and another daughter Nancy (my ancestor) in 1736 at Stoke, before moving to Dearham in Cumberland where they had more children before moving to Brigham area, where Moses was buried in 1757 and Sarah in 1780. I believe Moses came to Dearham to work for Aaron Wedgwood, who came to Whitehaven ab 1695 to work for Lord Lowther in his pottery in Whitehaven, before moving to Dearham where he set up his own pottery. any information would be much appreciated. Hi List I am just visiting from the Shropshire list. My family goes back to at least 1700 in Shropshire. The following appear elsewhere in the 1881 census but are all on my tree. Good morning Cameron Thank you very much for the info. And yes, please, I would be glad to have an e-mail copy. It looks as though his wife must still have been in Macclesfield, but his son Thomas was born in Leek in 1851 so perhaps she was just about to join him. Maybe she will appear on the Cheshire 1851. I don't know whether I dare ask, but if the index is easily searchable, could you ask it for George HUXLEY who I have in Knutton or Silverdale from 1861 onwards (he was born in Wrenbury parish, Cheshire c. 1830). If I can be of any help, I have the Shropshire 1841 and 1851 and the Cheshire 1841 censuses and would be happy to do look-ups for you. All best wishes Alan

A request - please is someone able to check the 1851 census for Leek & Lowe, 11/121/Belle Vue and tell me what family this John Longden has. The 2% sample of the 1851 shows him as 'W' with a son John aged 9. Father and son fit my family for age and birthplace, except that in 1841 and 1861 mine had a wife Ann born in Ireland. Alternatively, is there an index to the 1851 which might show if there were two matching father and son John Longdens in Leek? I would be most grateful for any assistance. Best regards to all Alan
