    3. Hi Tony, It doesn't look like the same line, my Jane's parents were Ralph and Sarah (Perry). She had siblings John, Eliza, Catherine, Ann, Ralph & Sarah, all born between 1833 and 1844. Ralph was shown as a Potter in 1851, in Watergate Street, Tunstall. He was a Beerseller in the 1851 Staffs Gazetteer, still in Watergate Street. In 1881 he was a widower living with son John & his wife Sarah, having a grocers shop and beerhouse at 37 marsh street Hanley. Regards, Keith in N.Z.

    3. Hello Jack, Thank you for sending that. As yet I can't tell if it is the same family, but the age is right. In 1881 the family were living in Penkhull Terrace but Joseph is not there. His wife, Betsy is Head. On the 1891 census Joseph is there but is a milk seller. It is very likely he could have changed jobs. I suppose I will have to try and track them through other census. I am very grateful to you for looking this up. Jeanne _________________________________________________________________ Get Hotmail on your mobile phone http://www.msn.co.uk/msnmobile

    3. Just received this from another list so am passing it on. Jeanne -----Original Message----- From: Ian Hartas [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 10:38 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [YKS] New Version of UK BMD web site. Dear all, A new version of the UK BMD web site went on the air tonight. It is a complete re-write and offers links to over 150 web sites that offer on-line information for UK births, marriages and deaths. http://www.UKBMD.org.uk More sites will be added as and when I find out about them. Let me know of any missing ones. The new site is navigated by a menu on its left side. For example, if all you want is the links to the local BMD sites, such as Cheshire BMD, then simply press the 'Local BMD' button. Note that the Isle-of-Wight are the latest to offer BMD indexes on-line. (Under Hampshire, if you're searching by county) If you want information specific to a county (or country), select one from the drop-down list and then press the 'County' button. Other buttons should be self-explanatory. I only subscribe to CHS, YKS and GENBRIT, so please cross post this note to as many genealogy lists as you can, as most counties have entries on the new site. Hope you find it useful ! -- regards, Ian Hartas, [email protected] ---------------------------------------- There are 10 types of people, those that understand binary and those that don't. ---------------------------------------- --- _________________________________________________________________ Use MSN Messenger to send music and pics to your friends http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger

    2. Jack Leigh
    3. Hello Jeanne In the 1841 census, HO107 piece 991 part 11 Enumeration District 7, Penkhull, Garden Street, there is a Joseph Leese, age 12, Brickmaker, born in Staffordshire. He is living (probably) with his (perhaps) widowed mother Susannah age 30 to 34, sister Mary Ann age 8, and Charles age 4, all born in Staffordshire. There is no adult male with the family. The occupation of mother Susannah is "F.S.", that is "female servant." I say "probably" and "perhaps" because the 1841 census does not give relationships or marital status, but these can often be surmised from the entries. Also, the age for those over 15 is given only to the nearest 5 years below the actual age. The age for those under 15 is supposed to be given exactly in years. Can you tell if this is your family? ........ Jack Leigh At 02:00 PM 08/27/2003 -0600, you wrote: >Hi Keith & Jane >My Mother-in-law was a Leese. Her father was Charles Joseph Leese. On the 1881 & 1891 census he and his family were living in Penkhull I had a look for Maryan Bywater on Vital Records, but no luck.
