Hi Linda, The local church, St.Mary's, was the Church of England church, and they were of a different persuasion. As I have explained in another message - the FCE was (and is) a separate denomination from the 'Church of England' - so they got married according to their own beliefs according the rites of the FCE - along with other dissenting bodies this meant the FCE minister had to have a Registrar at the ceremony (as evidenced by his signature on the certificate).
