Good morning all My interests in Southampton concern the PORTER and PLOWMAN families. I have John PORTER (b 1812- father John PORTER- mother unknown) married Ann PLOWMAN in June 1838 (b 1808 in Marnhull Dorset- father George PLOWMAN, cordwainer). John and Ann had four sons, Frederick,(b 1842) John Henry (b 1845) George James ( b 1847) and Edward (b 1849- my great great grandfather) and a daughter, Jane (b 1840) were all born in Southampton. John PORTER had been married before as the marriage certificate shows him as being a widower, but I have been unable to find any further information on this. John PORTER had an ironmonger's business that was on Lower East Road (1859)and at 110 East St (1867 to 1878). I would love to hear from anyone who has any further information, or can suggest some way of furthering my knowledge of the PORTER family in particular- I have some knowledge of the ancestors of Ann PLOWMAN, but with John PORTER being such a common name, have been unable to get any further with my research. Thank you for this opportunity Regards Anne Boyanup WA 6237
