    1. COX and BENDELL- Sholing/Freemantle 1890's
    2. Ali Hargreaves
    3. Happy Easter to everyone, hope there's not too much "truffling" (of chocolate) going on out there.... If there is - enjoy!! Is there anyone else out there researching the surname of COX? I'm particularly looking for anyone who might be connected with the family of Dorothy Violet Selina COX, born Oct 1895. On the 1901 census, Dorothy (aka Dolly) was living at 25 Norman Road, Freemantle with her mother Edith (aged 28) and siblings Daisey (sic), Percival and Ivy (aged 8, 2 and 1). I know that Dorothy had other siblings called Florence, Gladys, Queenie, May, Susy, Tommy and Harold. Were these children younger, hence not showing on the census? Where was Mr COX? Dorothy went on to marry Ernest Richard BENDELL (born Sep Qtr 1896 - South Stoneham) in 1921 - and I would like to know a more about his family. By complete coincidence, my Gt Gt Grandfather William Henry GARLAND and his family were living at 4 Norman Road, Freemantle - I wonder if the families knew each other at all. One of William's granddaughters - Edna Joyce GARLAND - went on to marry the son of Dorothy and Ernest BENDELL- Francis (Ern) BENDELL - but not until 1946!! I'd be grateful to hear from anyone researching these particular families. Thanks and Regards Alison Hargreaves, Swindon, UK --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
