Hi list, I have recently come across an old photo of a pub with my greatgrandfathers name above the door (Ernest Charles Marsh) and on the back of the photo is written SIR JOHN BARLEYCORN, BITTERNE. There is no pub name on the front of the building itself, so does anyone know if there was a pub of that name in Bitterne and where abouts. The date could be anywhere between the 1920's and the start of WW2. Thanks, linda
The Sir John Barleycorn is at Cadnam in the New Forest Linda It is quite a famous pub for the tourists and is situated just off of the M27 where it turns into the A31 Ringwood Road.
