    1. [ENG-SOM] Henry James Osmond, [Harry], Dorset and Somerset c. 1851 - ?1925
    2. Henry was born in East Coker, son of George and Mary [nee Frampton] Osmond. He married twice, and my family descends from his eldest child, Walter by his first wife, Elizabeth Miller, who died in 1893. They had three children and possibly a fourth who died shortly after birth [Faith, 1893]. Their first two children were born and baptised at Oborne, but the family were already living in the Dorchester area. Not found Albion’s baptism. Walter Henry [our grandfather] c. 1879, died Somme 1916 Also served Royal Navy as a boy, Boer War. Emily Jane 1881 Albion James 1886 - died 1964, a baker of Clevedon, descendants. Henry married secondly Lavinia Melinda Steed in Weymouth District in 1896, and had the following children: William Henry bapt. 29 Nov. 1897 Winterbourne Came Philadelphia, bapt. 1 Nov. 1898 Winterbourne Came. [married Henry C. IND]. Philadelphia died 1981 Chichester. Descendants. Evelyn Irene [died in infancy] 1899 - 1901. Bapt. Winterbourne Came. Louisa Amelia born in Wellington Dist. [Milverton], Somerset, April 1908 In 1877 Henry married Elizabeth Anne Miller at Oborne. In 1879 Walter Henry was born at Oborne. In 1881 Henry’s wife and son Walter were at Fordington, Dorset. In 1881 Emily Jane was born at Oborne. In 1886 Albion James was born at Queens Camel. [appears as Albert on 1891 Census]. In 1891 Henry, Elizabeth Anne [Annie] and three children at Podimore Milton In 1893 Elizabeth Anne died, possibly childbirth-related, Yeovil Reg. District. After their mother's death the boys appear to have lived with grandparents for a time at least - Walter is known to have been at Weston Zoyland in 1896 with his Miller grandparents. Albion in 1901 was with his widowed grandmother Mary Osmond at Congresbury. I have not found anything definite on their sister Emily Jane, there were many of the same name and age. In 1896 Henry married Lavinia Melinda Steed in Weymouth Dist. In 1901 Henry was at Upolowman, Devon, on his steam roller van, while his second wife and their children were in Winterbourne Came, Dorset. although Lavinia has entered him on the Census, with wrong age and place of birth. In 1911 Henry was a Road Roller Driver working for Wellington Dist. Council, living at Houndsmoor, Milverton, Somerset. ?Henry died 1925 in the same area. Lavinia died Taunton Reg. Dist. June 1959. Henry habitually knocked a few years off his age on the census entries If anyone has an interest or connection with the family I would be pleased to know. Wendy
