Good morning, I wonder if I could have some help with a look-up for Charles BLACKMORE in the 1841and 1851 census. Charles is on the 1861 census with wife Sarah, and daughter Elizabeth, 4mths. According to the 1861 census, Charles was b 1838 in Pitminster, Somerset, Sarah was from Getley Gross, Wales, and Elizabeth was b. Wellington, Somerset. Charles was a Brickmaker. I haven't been able to find him on the 1871 census either, but the family went to N.Z. in 1874, so he would have been in another country then. I do have Ancestry, but haven't been able to find Charles BLACKMORE from Pitminster . If anyone is researching this family, I'd love to hear from you. Many thanks, Jill Brisbane

Hi, freebmd shows a marriage of a Charles Blackmore in the Cardiff district in the March 1/4 of 1860 to possibly Sarah Perkins . There is a further marriage in the June 1/4 of 1861 Taunton district . In the 1851 for Wales there is a Charles Blackmore , relative, aged 11, labourer, b Pitminster, living in Bridge St , St John Cardiff, he is living with John Rich, head, marr, 45 , b Taunton, Mary , 52, b Pitminster, and Charlotte , dau, unm, 17, dressmaker, b Taunton, and John , son , 15, labourer, b Pitminster . They in turn are in a shared house with John Reynolds, 30 , labourer, b Gloucs, and his wife Mary Ann, wife, marr, 32, b Bridgwater . There are two births in the early BMD registers, and probably Charles b in the Wellington district , March 1/4 1840 is him , the other is b in March 1/4 of 1838 , but in the Tiverton district which is Devon but only just over the border and which district includes several Somerset parishes . In the 1841 Charles may be the 3 yr old son of William and Ann, both aged 35 , she is born in the county of Somerset, he is N for not born in county . William is a mason , and his eldest son Joseph aged 10 is a mason`s lab , they also have James 10 and Charles, 3. Also in Brushford is Benj Blackmore , 50, ag lab , Elizabeth , 45, and Charlotte, 7 .
