Is anyone local to Taunton who would be kind enough to photo the grave of 2nd Lieut Arthur Webb Butler BENTLEY, of the 3rd Yorkshire Regiment died 2 December 1918 aged 35, Old Ground 7391 in Taunton (St. Mary's) Cemetery. With thanks, Mike
Hi Mike If no one else offers, I will see what I can do when I go into Taunton in a couple of weeks, I have to say the there may not be any stone available as most have been taken down in the old Cemetery. There are a few but not many. I went to this cemetery a couple if years ago and there were no headstones above ground. Apparently the council made the decision to bury them as a preservation measure. If you contact the cemeteries office they can give you the transcript of the headstone, if there was one. I found them to be very helpful and lovely people.
