I come from a large Withers family based around Wells but it appears your man was from Kent and so were his Withers ancestors for several generations, so there is probably no connection. -- David Hartley

    3. Bev, FreeBMD has hundreds of possibilities for William Withers but luckily only on Julia Beatrice CARP born Mar 1908 in Wells. She looks to be the youngest of three children, but I'd prefer you check for family in 1911 census. The easiest way to sort out all the possibilities for William Withers would be to buy the 1933 marriage certificate, which should show his father. But first you might ask your friend, They may already have some certificates or other evidence that will give names of what look to be their grandparents or great grandparents. The couple appear on an Ancestry tree, which suggest a match for William in Mar 1910 in Sevenoaks, Kent. Again, a simple look up of 1911 census should find him with parents. Peter
