FreeREG shows Arnold baptisms at Ilchester in 1596 and 1635, so there definitely were some in the area. The source for the various online trees seems to be this book http://archive.org/stream/accountofenglish00arno/accountofenglish00arno_d jvu.txt It contains a copy of an account of his family alleged to have been written by William Arnold, an early settler in New England who came from Ilchester. His information is apparently corroborated by the Bishop's Transcripts for those periods where they exist. I'll leave it to you to decide how reliable it is. -- David Hartley
Thank you David This is exactly what I want to prove? But it seems I can't But I will not accept it because This ARNOLD family was born in or came from around Bagbere - Middleton now Milton Abbas - Puddletown- and Cheselborne in Dorset? I have all the wills in Cheselborne and area to say it is them But the USA people believe this ?X??X Because a man Mr Somerby said he found it all in Ilchester on 1870 yet there records are gone disappeared including the Bishops transcripts? He was paid to do this he was not a relation so my theory is that who was going to check it in 1870? he could write what ever he wanted and he did? They now use this a the given word. I was hoping records have come to light now - since it has been few years since I tried this before He said he disregard Dorset because it also mention Northover and as there was no Northover in Dorset the document it must have meant Somerset But there was a Northover in Dorset and a southover near Piddletown - Puddletown I have proof of this also I just about going to give up and just write and prove my own research I guess I am just vetting my frustration And hoping some old records have been found and put on the internet for me to find Thanks again Jill -- Jill [ARNOLD] MORLEY O.P.C.
