Margaret With the current system of film hire, you don't have to find a Mormon Church with a Family History Centre attached. These days there are many affiliate libraries where films can be sent, and where you'd go to view films. Some of them are genealogical/family history societies, but there are others. I just checked the Queensland list, and the libraries at Barcaldine, Innisfail, Atherton and Logan are affiliates. I'd guess there'll be similar libraries in other state. There are also many country towns too that have a Family History Centre. So, it's not just capital cities where you can research. You just have to be lucky enough to live near enough to a country centre to access it. Only Capital citys seem to have the mormon churches. to do babtism sort of research. I use to live in the country, and there is nothing available to search in their libarys. internet is usually very slow. Dial up. Im in a city in Australia, and we only got rid of dial up 4 years ago, and went cable. A lot more expensive, but everyone is happier... If you are not close to a FamilySearch Family History Centre, you will find that many Family History Societies are licensed for films to be sent to for viewing. I have not found living 'down under' to be an insurmountable problem. When you say "too far from any civilization", what do you mean? Bev
