I don't know if it's relevant or not... I had a look on FreeReg for a marriage, and found that a Charles WILLIS "bachelor, of this parish" married Mary CROSS "spinster, of this parish" on 11 Jun 1832 at Stoke Trister, Somerset. The witnesses were Thomas EDWARDS and Jane COOMBS. (The phrase "of this parish" doesn't necessarily mean that a person was born there, merely that they were established there). Is it possible that the mother's name may have been wrong, do you think? Hope this helps!
