Elizabeth's in some families were called Betty, usually so as not to confuse them with their mother Elizabeth. 3. A few in my family went by their middle names. At times they went by their first names and used the middle initial and vise versa. Very confusing for we searchers!. 4. My ggrandfather Robert was not Baptized till he was 2 years old, along with his baby brother. The family had been living in MDX when Robert was born but did not Baptize Robert till 2 years later. They went home to Minehead and Baptized Robert along with their next infant, William Edward (always called Ted). 5. Your James may have been Baptized in the mother's Parish or one close by.
