I am looking for any information and or rellies that anyone is willing to share. The big puzzle I am trying to solve is when and why my GG Grandfather Alert Chapman Stokes dropped the Stokes from his name. I have a copy of his marriage certificate, which lists him as Albert Chapman Stokes and his father as William Chapman Stokes. On the birth and marriage certificates of my G Grandfather Albert Chapman his father is only listed as Albert Chapman.
