Hello List, My name is Tomi and I live in Oswego, NY. I recently found a connection to Somerset - although I don't know much! My great great grandfather was George Cann. His parents, according to an obituary, were Robert and Catharine Cann of Somerset County, England. He was born 25 July 1834 in England. He emigrated to Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania between 1847-1857. There he married Ann Nokes. Later he married her sister, Elizabeth Nokes. All of his children were born in Pennslyvania: Mary (Mollie), Elmira, William, Bessie, Bertha, Rosalie, Dessie, Anna, George, Mary. He moved to Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA where he died 28 Jan 1898. He may have had a brother Ed (Edward, Edwin?). I have no other information about siblings or life in England. I would be happy for any help or information list members might give to me. I have not done any research in England, although I have done a bit in Wales using the IGI and some Rootsweb groups.
