Here is what I know: My great-grandfather was Charles Henry Watts, b. Bristol in 1852. He immigrated to the US (Illinois) in the 1860s. His parents were: Henry Watts (b. ~1821 in Monksilver, Somerset, d. Bristol after 1871 census but before 1880). The family is listed in Bristol census from 1851 to 1871. Henry married: Mary Burnell (b. 1828 in Timberscombe, Somerset, d. Illinois, USA, in early 1900s). Mary's parents were: James Burnell (b. ~1798 in Exton) and Elizabeth Cane (Cain) (b. ~1804 in Timberscombe). The family is listed in the Exton census for 1841 and 1851. Other info: Elizabeth Cane Burnell followed her daughter and other children (Edwin Burnell and a Quartley) to the US and died in Illinois in the 1890s. In the 1841 census, James and Elizabeth Burnell are listed as living next to John and Elizabeth Tout who had a Robert Burnell, age 80, living with them. Notes in the margin say "Exton Village" next to the Burnells and "Pitt?" next to the Touts. In the 1851 census the Burnells are still living next to the Touts but the Burnells are listed as living in Household #42 in a "Shop" and the Touts are at #43. Elizabeth Tout is listed as School Mistress. In the 1851 census Henry Watts is a "Sugar Baker". In the 1861 census he is now the Bath House Keeper at the Bath House on 11 Broad Main in St. Philip and Jacob's Parish. In 1871 Henry is a laborer and the family is living at #12 Upper Richmond Ter. in the same parish. If anyone can help with additonal information I would greatly appreciate it.
