If a person decides to get married, and that person is under 21 years of age, they need to get permission from the parent to allow it. This would be stated on the Certificate. If that person lied about his/her birth (ie under age and without parental permission) that marriage would/could be classed as void ! On the marriage Cert, they have two choices on status. Batchelor or Widower for the man, and Spinster or Widow for the female. On the marriage Cert, if the father is deceased, it would have to say so. On every Cert there is a caution. "There are offences relating to falsifying a Certificate and using or possessing a false Certificate" Your thoughts ?
