Hello, I'm new to the list and wondered if someone can help with a baptism for John KEETCH born Chard about 1827 When John married in June 1859 in Woolwich his occupation is given as Private in R.M. and his father is James KEETCH. Any help would be most gratefully received. Many thanks, Carole Noden, Kent -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. It has removed 33156 spam emails to date. When John married in June 1859 in Woolwich his occupation is given as Private in R.M. and his father is James KEETCH" and Duncan replied "FreeREG has a possible baptism of a John KEETCH at Chard on 1 March 1829 to parents James, a Labourer & Mary" Keetch, also spelt with variations Keitch, Ketch, Kitch etc, was a fairly common surname in the area at the time. With the given names (John, James, Mary) also being very popular there is great scope for confusion here! But following on from Duncan's observation, perhaps this family was in Combe St Nicholas (3 miles from Chard) in 1841, living in Frog Lane: Ketch James 30 ag lab y Ketch Mary 40 y Ketch John 12 y Ketch Ann 10 y Ketch William 7 y Ketch Robert 3 y ... then in 1851, still in Frog Lane: Kitch James head m 42 ag lab Kitch Mary wife m 50 Kitch John son u 22 ag lab Kitch Robert son 14 ag lab Kitch Thomas son 8 If you think this family could be your interest please get back to me because I have further info on the mother Mary, nee Mallock. Kind Regards, Jenny
