I did a quick search on Free Parish Registers, and there are a few Emms in the Parish of Easton in Gordano which is south west of Bristol, and one Emms in Bath. There was no record of a James Emms though. The website is _http://www.freereg.org.uk/_ (http://www.freereg.org.uk/) . This is not definitive but is a start. There is a village called Whiteway, just south west of Bath.
