    3. 1. He could have walked. 30 miles is nothing even on the roads of the day. 2. Somerford Keynes is only 3 or 4 miles from Cirencester. There is a more or less direct road from there to Bristol. Doubtless there would have been carriers carts possibly even stage coaches to Bristol or points in between. My money is on walking.
