I am not researching these particular families, but many others in Wedmore. Samuel Nichols was not baptized in Wedmore. Rebecca Dyer was baptized in Wedmore on 13 Sep 1769, daughter of John Dyer. John Dyer's wife was named Frances, but it does not appear that they were married in Wedmore. There is a marriage of John Dyer and Frances Pye on 6 Apr 1758 in Falmouth, Cornwall. However, this is too late, as John and Frances Dyer of Wedmore had children as early as 1752. For Wedmore parish record transcriptions, here is a link: http://www.tutton.org/parrec.html Barbara Jennings On Apr 7, 2008, at 3:38 PM, Pat Hase wrote: > My husband's 3 x great grandparents, Samuel NICHOLS and Rebecca DYER > were married in Wedmore on the 26th April 1798. Barbara Thank you so much for that - I'm very grateful but puzzled that I didn't find that out myself - I know I've looked at that site many times before. I now see that I even had Rebecca's christening but for some inexplicable reason didn't note her parents (probably because no mother was mentioned). So thank you very much indeed for the wake-up call! It really does look as if Frances must have been her mother although there was a John & Mary DYER having children up to at least 1747 and possibly another in 1750. Must check to see if a Mary died before Frances appeared on the scene - might be the same John? Thanks again - it's really helpful to have another brain on the job.
