    3. I don't know whether this helps or not but I'm transcribing the 1841 Census for Hundred of Whitely, Somerset and there are quite a few Dyers but so far no Nichols (I have a family of Nicholson in Grenton, Somerset but no Samuel. 3. Thanks Debbie, It might be useful to look outside Wedmore for my DYER and NICHOLS/NICHOLLS families. The Whitney Hundred does have a border the Bempstone Hundred so is a logical place to look. At the moment I'm interested in occurrences before the 1841 census. Greinton is not that far as the crow flies but with a range of hills (not insurmountable!) between it and Wedmore. From the ages given when they were buried, Samuel NICHOLS was born about 1775 and Rebecca DYER was born in about 1769 - They both died in 1843 so all I know about them is that they were both born in Somerset (according to the 1841 census). >> >
