Hi Daphne Cont no 1 High Street would be COURT No1 High Street and would certainly be within the Parish of St Mary Magdalene as it is only a few hundred yards away, Holy Trinity is a relatively new Parish and I believe it was still part of St Marys in 1901, I know from experience that the records of Holy Trinity had not been filmed in the SRO but the original registers are available there. Strangely enough I have connections with both of these addresses and have some records of a HAWKINS family in Taunton Regards Patrick Williams > -----Original Message----- > From: eng-somerset-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-somerset-bounces@rootsweb.com] > On Behalf Of John Scott > Sent: 29 April 2008 22:47 > To: eng-somerset@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ENG-SOM] Parishes in TAUNTON > > Hi List, > > Could some kind person tell me about the parishes of Taunton please. > I have 2 census pages for the 1901 census both say Taunton St Mary Magdelene, > > one then says Holy Trinity Taunton, East Ward, looks like Vesey St. no 20 family of > HAWKINS. > > the other is also St Mary Magdelene part of Taunton, Cont No1 High Street, next family > DREW. > > Now which parish should I look in for baptisms, St Mary Madelene or Holy Trinity ? > > Any help in sorting out the parishes would be very helpful. > > Thanks > Daphne > New Zealand.
