Hi Roger, Yes! David Cheek has done a good job of all those transcriptions. I have hunted for my George there, I found his 2nd marriage to mary COOMBES both widowed, no luck with his first marriage or his birth/baptism. I have written off to some more palces, trying to get help with the Granstone, no replies yet. Do you know of a professional genealogist in Somerset, that might do this job for us? I am trying find information on Charles Best b. 1812 who married Frances Willcox b 1822 they were married in St John's Parish Weston SuperMare in January 1837, but she was born in either Bath or Bristol and had as witness' Michael and Elizabeth Willcox who may have been her parents or siblings. They emmigrated from Bristol to America in 1840 on the "Great Western" steamship. I am stuck trying to find her parents.... Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, they left too early for the census and I have not been able to find any emmigration records for that period... except for indentures servants. He was a merchant I belive and his family were landowners so they didn't fit into the indentured servant category... I did find him graduating from Cambridge St John's College and have as a result his pedigree... Thanks Christine _________________________________________________________________ How well do you know your celebrity gossip? http://originals.msn.com/thebigdebate?ocid=T002MSN03N0707A ------------------------------ Message: 6 Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2008 13:25:51 +1300 From: "Patricia O'Shea" <pkoshea@xtra.co.nz> Subject: Re: [ENG-SOM] Introduction To: <eng-somerset@rootsweb.com> Cc: cbest111@hotmail.com Message-ID: <010501c88fa1$1d067c10$0401010a@acer7fd9a64054> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original Hi Christine - this may be totally unrelated but IGI has a Michael Ayres WILLCOX baptised 1816 Bristol to parents Michael and Elizabeth. Could be worth looking into? Large family of WILLCOXs in Weston super Mare in 1841 - head of family is a yeoman farmer but no sign of a Michael anywhere.
