    1. [ENG-SOM] JAMES COLES Brompton Ralph
    2. James COLES was a brother of my grandfather, and born Brompton Ralph c. 1883. I have found him on the 1911 Census at Royal Marines Barracks in Plymouth but think he might have died in WW1. There were quite a few casualties of the same name so it's hard to identify him. He was possibly married in 1903 to Harriet LANGDON with two children by 1911. Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks. 2. The Lewis family
    3. The CWGC website might help but he might not have been a Royal Marine at that time. However if he was in the RM, the UK national archives has the list of RM enlisted men up to 1925 from which I was able find my wife's grandfather and his discharge date. You can download (about 4 pounds) the attestation form as a .pdf file. It takes a bit of navigating and I haven't been to the National Archives site for a while but it's worth a try.
