I'm looking for an ONLINE source for a circa 1800-1855 West Buckland area map, and anyone else working on the Halfyard & Wright families of West Buckland, Holcombe Rogus, Wellington & Taunton. Last winter I photographed a 1806 contract (and other HALFYARD land documents) at the Taunton Archives. A relative has spent MANY MANY hours transcribing this contract, covering a significant amount of land, buildings and orchards, however we haven't been able to discern the exact location of the farm. The contract was between: Henry HALFYARD of West Buckland (Blacksmith) and Richard, Bishop of Bath and Wells for the lease of Wood Acre Cottage its Garden and Orchard in West Buckland. The contract was made on the Sixteenth December 1806 in the 47th Year of the reign of George III (which would be 1806) for the princely sum of 8 shillings and sixpence. Thanks, JB in California.
