One possibility is that Joseph was the first-born of his parents and that his mother went back to her parents in Wedmore for the birth as was quite often the case. The baptism would then have taken place in their own parish (maybe one of the surrounding villages) at a later date. It looks like the John Wall that died in 1857 (Abode Heathhouse) was buried on the 24th March 1857 aged 21, this would make his year of birth ABT 1836 not 1825 (or did you mean 1835?) as in William Taverner Wall’s son – there is a baptism for John on the 26th April 1835 – Parents: William & Elizabeth – Abode: Heath-house – Fathers. I see looking again at www.familysearch.org “your” John married Louisa Gould on the 24th October 1858 at St Cuthbert’s, Wells, Somerset so yes that is an obvious mistake on the Somerset Larders site! Also the last three children listed by the Somerset Larders don’t seem to tie in with Joseph & Susannah either, so yet another discrepancy. The information you have given me regarding the children ties in with the family I am looking for, but I am unsure about the SomersetLarders website's addition of "Joseph" to David WALLs name. In the Wedmore Baptismal Parish Register, David WALL, baptized on 12 March 1801, did not have Joseph as a middle name . All reference I have to "our" Joseph WALL in the Parish Registers and Census records refers to him only as Joseph WALL. I have been unable to make contact with the SomersetLarders website administrator through their "contact us" facility and therefore do not know how they took the leap from David WALL to David Joseph WALL. If I could find the marriage of "our" Joseph WALL to Susanna(h) this might help to verify the names. The other thing that worries me is that SomersetLarders shows John WALL baptized BEF 28 January 1834 as having died in March 1857, which is not the case with "our" John WALL who married and had at least 6 children! I suspect that the John who died ay have been the son of William Taverner WALL who was baptized on 26 Apr 1825.
