Have you seen the 1851 census of Charlton Mackrell Norman? Betsy CAVE was then a glover, aged 13, living with her father James (age 42 born Somerton), his (second) wife Martha, and a half-brother William Collins CAVE age 6. Back in 1841, James CAVE was living just with 3 year old Betsey at Tuckers Batch in Charlton Mackrell. From the local parish registers (the ecclesiastical parish boundaries of Charlton Mackrell and Charlton Adam are intermingled): Charlton Mackrell - 9 April 1835 - James CAVE married Maria HOCKEY Charlton Mackrell - 13 March 1836 - baptism of Elizabeth, daughter of James & Maria CAVE Charlton Mackrell - 2 April 1836 - burial of Elizabeth CAVE, age 6 weeks Charlton Mackrell - 22 April 1838 - baptism of Betsy, daughter of James & Maria CAVE Charlton Mackrell - 22 November 1839 - burial of Maria CAVE, age 27 Charlton Adam - 24 January 1844 - James CAVE, widower, married Martha HUNT, widow. His father was John CAVE, labourer, and her father was William COLLINS, stone mason. A James CAVE, son of John and Sarah, was baptised at Somerton on 3 Nov 1811 (and daughters Jane, on 1 Nov 1807, and Elizabeth, on 13 Aug 1815, were also baptised there).
