My maternal grandfather’s family were Every/Avery. Originally from Charlton Adam, later Podimore. George Every, bpt 1835 Podimore emigrated to Australia 1856/7 on the ‘Fitjames’, landing Sydney. Married there 1858 to Betsey Cave, b abt 1837 Charlton Mackeral. Emigrated 1857 on the ‘Zeminder’. They settled in Glen Innes, Northern NSW. I have run into a brick wall with the ancestors of Betsy, Can any kind person help. Ruby Faunt, my contact for the Australian Everys, died a few years ago and so I have lost contact with that branch of my family. I would like to make contact with any descendants of George and would be happy to exchange my notes on both the Australian branch and the original Somerset Family. Finally, does anyone have any information on the two ships involved. Although I now live in South Australia, I am descended from the Somerset families who, after George left, changed the name to Avery. Norman Pearce
