    1. Re: [ENG-SOM] Martock, Ash, Tintinhull - Simmons, Sealey
    2. The reference for Eliabeth SEALEY and her parents in 1841 is: HO 107 / piece 960 / book 9 - folio 9 page 13 - lines 8, 9 & 10. The whole of the parish of Tintinhull is Enumeration District 6 (in the Martock registration district) BUT none of the pages give any place names within the parish except for page 1 (which includes Welham's Mill) and page 23 (the next to last, with the Victoria Inn and three farmhouses). There are no addresses/place names for the SEALEY household on page 13 and the only reference to S[t]ock Dennis is the handwritten correction on the cover page which says: "Note. Stock Dennis Tything is returned elsewhere in the Hundred". Although S[t]ock Dennis had been an ancient parish, it was then an extraparochial district in the Hundred of Tintinhull (which included 7 parishes as well as Tintinhull itself) and in 1883 S[t]ock Dennis was merged with the parishes of Tintinhull and Ilchester. I am not aware that it was ever termed a "Township" - that is not an administrative unit term commonly used in Somerset - so possibly it was a misreading of "Tything". I'm sorry that's not very positive information as to their place of residence, but unfortunately it is rare to find place/road/house names in census enumerations of Somerset villages at that date! Best wishes, Celia ><snip> >I was given the 1841 census data by another researcher years ago.
