Hi Jan, Somers Hill, St. George could have been in the vicinity of the present-day Summerhill Road in St. George, Bristol. (In those days Saint George was in Gloucestershire.) I certainly have checked out Summerhill Rd Bristol. Having found Somers Hill neigh Leigh Upon Mendip, what I seek is the location of records of this area. Council plans? Landowners lists? Anything relevant to say 1800 - 1812 Thanks! Anything relevant to say 1800 - 1812 Hi Jan, Your original message referred to 'Somers Hill Saint Georges near the city of Bristol'. I think it's unlikely that the Somers Hill near Leigh upon Mendip is the location you seek as the latter is a long way from St. George, which is now in Bristol, but was formerly in Gloucestershire. Alan Godfrey's Old Ordnance Survey Map of Bristol (St. George) 1902 has an area called Summer Hill between Clouds Hill Road and Summerhill Road. Summerhill House is marked along Summerhill Road. In Bristol Record Office there are deeds of messuage and land at Summer Hill, St George, Gloucestershire, but the date is 1835 - 1878. Josephine -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com
